About 060calc

060calc is a free 0-60 calculator that estimates how quickly a car reaches 60 mph (or 100 km/h) from its power, weight and a few other details. You can also compare two cars, work out the power needed for a target time, or turn a time you measured yourself into average acceleration.

How it works

The calculator simulates a car on a flat, straight road in tiny time steps. At each step it takes the smaller of two limits: the force the engine can deliver through the current gear, and the force the tires can pass to the road. Air drag, rolling resistance, altitude, temperature and road grade are included. The full explanation is in the Method section, and the physics is covered in the 0-60 formula guide.

What we care about

  • Privacy. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to a server.
  • Honesty. Results are estimates. For stock and lightly modified cars they usually land within about 0.3 to 0.5 seconds of a well-run timed test, and the calculator shows a likely range rather than a single promise.
  • Speed and simplicity. No sign-up, no ads in the way, and fonts are hosted on the site itself.
